Chuck's pipes...nothing glorious but they're mine!
First off, who is Chuck? Chuck McKinney currently living in Indiana in the USofA. I smoke pipes and paint pictures. Two of watercolors behind me. Keeps off the streets and out of the bars.
Now, for the interesting part:
My Sherlock Holmes cabinet that Judy, my wife,
bought me our first Christmas together 32 years ago.
Thanks folks for allowing me to show off some of my pipes.
Wowzers Chuck, thanks for the look at your pipes! Love the cabinet, wish it was mine >:] Some great looking pipes in there, can't wait for some 'up close and personals' of your favorites.
And gratz for being the first person (apart from HD and myself) to post on the Hobo Pipes blog :)
I want to thank you and Dave for the honour (note the spelling...doing it right, hey?) of allowing me to be the first visitor to post on this fine blog. It's good and gets mo betta every day.
Haha! You know it's funny, I've been editing the 'ou' to an 'o' to appeal to a wider audience. It's even funnier that the American spelling and pronunciation of many words is in fact the 'correct' way (except that language changes thus invalidatign the following points, but they are interesting). When the USA was established they took with them the English spelling and pronunciations of the time. England then adopted much of the French spelling and pronunciations which Latinised most of the Greek root (i.e. 'z') words. A good example of pronunciation is the word 'police'. Australians say 'puh-lees', Americans in some parts say 'poh-lees'. In this case the American pronunciation is in fact closer to the original English version!
I was looking at these pics when I noticed all the dust on the racks. Had just been dusted. Kid next door used to ride his four wheeler in the yard beside our house. The dust he kicked up got everywhere. As fast as we would dust...more would take its place. I should have taken new pics. Oh well....look at the pipes instead of the dust. :)
Dust tell me about it our house is 90 years old called a Queenslander quite distinctive to the area google them ours is quit modest some are really flash. Full Timber construction and raised on stumps built for the heat here. Its nice but it does not seal at all and we live on a busy road dust everywhere. HD
