Carnauba wax first Pipe

Fired up the Hobo buff today running my drill at full speed and pressing hard i managed to transfer a little wax on to the wheel.
The wax is so hard the HH block is like a piece of plastic wow.
You can see the edge of the wax is rounded.
The wheel on top has the wax on it.
I used the Barling as a test.
You really have to be careful now as producing enough friction to transfer the wax to pipe has its risks.
So full speed on the drill.
Press the pipe hard and hang on.
And keep the pipe moving
In the end i had a thin coating over the pipe hard to see it but you could feel it.
This is with out a doubt the next level of polishing.
Dr Plumb is a bit out classed
Then at slow speed i polished  the pipe.
In the flesh it looks like glass.

  1. Far out man, the grain has so much more depth as well. That reflection is crazy, window or light? Nice job on the polish!

  2. Wow, that's a relatively dull light source then, makes the reflection even more impressive!

    1. I think the reflection looks like a map of Australia.
      What do you think.

  3. Oh, btw, that side of the pipe in the first picture...possibly the craziest most mixed up grain I've seen on a pipe! Honestly, every grain type in one small section of briar :) Now...off to play Smokin' Guns...

  4. Hmmm...actually, looking at that top pic of your hobe buffer (nice) it looks like you have your wheels running against their natural nap, I always find the other way gives a better shine. Can't argue with your results though!

  5. lol...the 'old dog' taught me the trick first! When you were making kites you raved about aligning the grains of the fabrics - stuck in my head all these years :)

  6. Super photo update as well, didn't notice at first! You're right about the plumb being outclassed in that one photo, but it is out of focus as well which makes it look worse than the others. It's still out classed in the later photo's, but not nearly as badly :P Have you smoked any of the pipes with carnauba on them yet? I'd be interested to see if the wax retains it's finish...when it's warm from the pipe being smoked you may be able to rub it with a soft cotton shirt, or microfiber cloth etc. and make the shine even better...

    1. Yes i have smoked with the wax on.
I waxed the Falcon and smoked it hot as i don't really care about it much to see what happened.
The wax stayed hard ,non sticky and super shinny .
The wax i had before melted and looked wet when smoked fail.
