Cob Plug 1792

5oz of Samuel Gawith Cob Plug 1792

I was just told this has been aged since 2004.
Look at all the sugars.
I knew it.

Nice flakes my vintage flake cutter works so well.

It has the flavour of 1792 but its just a bit milder.
Maybe the plugs have aged.
Full of flavour the plug is rock hard but easy to slice with a plug cutter and rub out.
Perfect moisture level very easy to light and burns to a light grey ash.
Produces huge amounts of smoke.
A great dry smoking very stout tobacco to say the least.
Andrea said it smelt like intense tobacco.
Lachlan my 20 year old son nearly choked on it.
Not to sure about the room note though.

New Tobacco no 73

Krumble Kake
I used my vintage flake cutter to cut some off.
And packed my small Falcon Calabash.
The Latakia is there up front then the rum flavour comes through.
A good solid tobacco big in flavour and nicotine just how i like it.
Now to turn a couple more small Falcon bowls so i can rotate them
for all this strong tobacco.

I see 6 pipes.

Extra small Falcon Bowl for extra strong tobacco

I was smoking Samuel Gawith 1792 and had a thought that i
needed a extra small Falcon bowl to smoke it in.
Over the weekend i turned this tiny Calabash.
The good is that the walls are very thick and it should smoke cool.
I have smoked it three times so far and although there is no cake built up yet
it does smoke very cool.

Quite a nice block.

The bowl on the right is a standard Falcon bowl.
The top of the smoke chamber normaly 22mm
this one is 18.
The bottom 17mm
this one is 12mm.

Both bowls started out the same colour
No need to use stain.

Smoked by all Shrewd Judges

Orlik golden sliced.
Very nice presentation in the tin.
Virginia with a little Burley tobacco.
Easy to pack and light needs to dry just a little.
For me this tobacco is sweet smoking with no bite at all.
Great pure tobacco flavour a little over mid nicotine content.
If i was smoking it all time it would get boring quickly.
It is a great tobacco for mixing with.
I have mixed a some with a little SG 1792
calmed the 1792 down nicely and added interest to the golden sliced.

Up coming tobacco

This is the plug version of 1792.
I just smoked my first bowl of 1792 flake.
I inhaled and nearly spat my Falcon across the room.
I'm speechless.
And i thought that SG XX Rope was strong WRONG.
Tobacco like this a great value for money pure nicotine.
I think i will turn my self a very small falcon bowl to smoke it in.
It will be interesting to see what the plug version is like
at least i get to use my vintage flake cutter.

Mass tobacco opening

Well my plan of smoking a tin at a time experiment failed.
I was getting bored just smoking one tobacco.
So i opened and jar up eight tobacco's.
The Irish flake smells so strong.
Reviews to follow as i get to know them.

The Widow Maker

The pictures can't show how huge this drill really is.
Mr William Peter Sher (1902–1977) believed that tools imported from the United States of America were designed with 'inbuilt obsolescence'. He was determined that his products would continue to provide years of service for the home handyman

Today Lachlan came home with this in the boot/trunk of his car.
He had been to a garage/yard sale.
It is with out a doubt the biggest POWER drill i have ever seen.
It took both of us to lift it out of the car.
Australian made Sher  3/4 " heavy duty drill.
It sounds like a jet aircraft when its running and takes so long to stop.
Its in perfect working order its been kicked around a factory for a lot of years
but i don't think it's seen a lot of use probably to scared to use it.
There is a safety tag on the cord dated 1962.
I'm sure it was made pre 1950.
The bloke he bought it off said the last guy to use it
took it out of the stand mistake one.
He then tried to drill a 3/4" hole in a i beam mistake two.
The drill bit grabbed and because of the huge amount of torque this thing has
it spun out of control and the handle came round and broke his jaw.
