Churchwarden adapter

Hobo Hoot gave me this pipe a few months ago it had a broken stem.
I drilled and tapped the pipe 8mm and opened up the airway.
The original drilling was to deep so i drilled the bowl a bit deeper to better match up.

Missouri Meerschaum Churchwarden

There is a slight taper on the tenon as the cob's vary in size.

Turned an adapter to fit my churchwarden stem into corn cob pipes.
Missouri Meerschaum corn cobs smoke so cool even better with the long stem.
Now to make adapters for some of my other pipes.
   

New tobacco McClelland's Townsman Cavendish Black Brandy

8 oz sack.

It said Brandy but i think it smells like hazel nuts.
After smoking this for a day i have a little tongue bite.
It works if i pack it a bit tighter than normal i have found.
Nicotine is mild to medium so i added a little five brothers to give it a boost.
Over all a good tobacco i will smoke it but i like my tobacco's  a little stronger.
Next i will add some Cob plug to it and see how that goes.
  

New Churchwarden Pipe MK2

  I have been experimenting with stem connection.
I was able to get a 15mm by 1m acrylic rod so no more stupid pen blanks.
The bowl is tapped 10mm.
The acrylic spacer has a 10mm thread on one end the other
is tapped 8mm.
Threaded the vulcanite stem 8mm to my surprise it threaded perfectly.
To overcome the alignment problem i turned a small briar lock nut.
So the stem can be rotated to any position and locked.
I have smoked this pipe about 10 times so far and this system works well perfect seal and tight.

New tobacco Five Brothers

Ok i have read about the legendary nicotine kick of  this tobacco.
Comments like it has the same effect as blowing up an air mattress with your mouth a total head spin.
I am used to strong tobacco's like 1792/cob plug Peterson's Irish flake and others.
I found the tobacco not to bad yea it has kick but nothing like 1792.
Flavor  is of pure tobacco no casing and so is the room note.
 It will make a good mixer to boost weaker tobacco's .
The cut is very fine like roll your own tobacco but it is not rubbed.
Very dry in the pouch so it burns easily.
Slow puffing is needed as it does tend to bite the tongue.

New Churchwarden Pipe

Just finished turning this pipe.
My Daughter bought me a Tap and Die set for Christmas how did she know?.
I wanted to make a pipe with interchangeable bowls for a while now.
I had experimented with press fits but had no luck.  
Now  i will be able to make other shape bowls to screw on to the stem always tight and sealed.
As always when i turn a pipe for myself  the block had a few inclusions and a small crack go figure.
Andrea said that wood is a natural product and that i have to get over it.
And the inclusions and cracks add to its uniqueness and beauty.
