Stage 2 Comoy's Restoration
The Bowl i lightly buffed it to clean it then carnaubra waxed it wow what a shine then i used Dunhill briar polish.
I then polished the stem to a high sheen. This pipe is nice and clean inside just a light ream was needed.
The pics don't do it justice.
A true credit to its previous owner [ Hobo Hoot ]
Going to pack it up and smoke it soon.
Glad to hear it went well. Older Comoy's are always classy, just something about them. Can't believe you restored it so fast.
"It won't happen overnight...oh...it did happen overnight...neat".
You've done a great job wit hteh bit, still looks nice an crisp on the edges. Don't you just love how that white 'C' pops when the bit is black? It's like the Dunhill dot in many ways, in that it is understated and so is classy without even trying. Funny thing is, I don't like many of the Dunhill's I see...but Comoy's... something about them.
Just think, that pipe has sat in my racks, or wrapped up in boxes for maybe 14 or 15 years. Never polished, never smoked. Just looked at and admired. But it's sad, because I always imagine that when you pack a pipe, and light it up, it's like your bringing that old friend to life. With the fire burning they are all of a sudden alive.
Well i just thought i would sand the bit a little and next thing i knew i was packing and smoking it time just flew by. That's when you know you are having a good time. This is with out out a doubt one classy pipe the feel the look the everything.
Did you notice the stepped tenon and how it mirrors the decreasing drilling of the mortise? Pure craftsmanship, and something that you just don't see anymore.
I did the same thing this morning with the Butz-Choquin. I like the idea of a Friday night polish, get up Saturday morning with a sparkling pipe ready for you. Mind you, all of your shine all the time...
Smoked it slowly went well not to hot just took my time.A very classy smoke all round.
