Classy Pipes: Peterson silver spigot with lucite bit
Okay, here is a strange one. A Peterson's silver spigot army mount but with a lucite bit. I can't seem to find this model anywhere (with that style of bit). Anyone else have any ideas? AND, how classy is that pipe!
Well, long story but short version yes. Including postage it cost me 2 hours worth of tutoring money. Coming from Germany as we speak. But I figure if someone walked up to me and said, "Work for me for two hours and I'll give you this pipe." I'd jump at it.
More than anything I love the tortoise shell lucite bit, but can't seem to find it anywhere else...I've got a feeling that the photo does not do the pipe justice, can't wait to take some proper ones myself, will post when I do.
It arrived today, good god it's beautiful. I'll put up a post later tonight - but so nice in the hand. It is drilled a little high in the bowl for my liking, but the angle of the draught hole means that it is pointing along the natural curve of the bowl...may be a good thing.
As for ever tangling with a Pete, not me but an old mate has once. He bought a small No. 15 billiard, sterling silver. Well, after many a bowl ending in tongue bite he finally cracked, parked half way across a local bridge and , with the pipe still lit, he lobbed it out the window, over his car and off the bridge. Apparently it made a smoke spiral as it plummeted to it's meeting with the river. A few months later he found the pipe's twin in a shop, bought it. What? Same thing happened again. This time he left it in his pile of unsmoked pipes and it ended up passing to me. It is a sweet smoking pipe that is simply lovely. It does have quite a narrow tobacco chamber compared to all of his other pipes, so I suspect that he was just smoking it too hard!
What a beautiful pipe is it yours Hoot.
